Not everyone has heard of AMA Waterways, and those who are considering a river cruise usually request the one they hear about the most - Viking. It is important to realize that there are other brands. Just like in ocean cruising Carnival is not the only one. It is important that we find the brand that will bring you the most satisfaction with regard to your interests and lifestyle.
A small group of local Cruise Planners joined our BDM Shiela and the National Sales Director of AMA Waterways, Donna to learn more about their product offerings and what is new.
AMA is one cruise line that has not had to cancel a cruise due to water levels in many years. They will make modifications that they feel are in the best interests of the passengers if necessary. Their specially designed flat bottom ships that do not require much water to sail and that is one of the things that make them different.
A swimming pool that is heated, year round is on each and every long ship. Great for those folks who enjoy the water and want to take in the scenery as they do so. There are other brands who do not offer swimming pools.
A gym. For those folks who feel the need to work off some of the delicious food that they will be enjoying.
A salon. Ladies love to have their hair done, nails and toes touched up and more. These services are not available on some other brands.
A family owned business and not a major conglomeration. Attention to the needs and desires of the passengers is very important to them. Attentive service is not an option.
Tours options. Select from a variety of tours for each destination. You can choose from easy walker, late riser and more depending on you and your preferences. Tours are included in your fare.
Family friendly. They offer a limited number of connecting staterooms on some of their ships.
Attentive to the solo traveler. Unlike other brands geared mostly to couples, they try to make a single traveller welcome and appreciated. They will do everything that they can to help the person enjoy themselves and have a great time. Currently, they are waiving the solo supplement for all sailings through 2018 on all categories of rooms with the exception of suites.
AMA Waterways sails many rivers and countries throughout Europe, and sail to Africa, Myanmar and the Mekong River.
