All-Inclusive Resorts responding to new CDC COVID-19 testing requirements for people returning to the U.S. and Canada
Published Wednesday, January 13th 2021 - Updated Wednesday, January 13th 2021A variety of all-inclusive resort brands located in Mexico and the Caribbean are actively responding to yesterday's announcement from the CDC (Center of Disease Control). The announcement made states that all persons returning to the U.S. from a foreign destination must obtain COVID-19 tests within 72 hours of their scheduled departure. These persons must provide proof of testing and a negative result at the time of check in with their airline.
Sandals and Beaches Resorts indicated that the complimentary tests will be conducted for their guests through March 31, 2021. Test results will be made available to the guests within 24-48 hours. "Tests will be conducted by approved and practiced medical professionals with maximum convenience and minimal distraction to your client’s overall vacation experience."*
Other resort brands are working diligently on how they will deal with the recent demand made by the CDC. Be it complimentary or discounted testing, if at all, and more.
Announcements are expected to be made by the various brands within the next several days and prior to the January 26, 2021, which is the date of implementation.
We currently have limited lists of resorts located in the Mexico that are offering COVID-19 testing on their resorts and how much they are charging. These lists include resorts in Cancun/Rivera Maya, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta. These lists will gradually grow as we are advised of the resorts policies and procedures.
