We love to hear back from our clients about their experiences that they booked through us!
This particular couple traveled on a 13-night Grand European cruise that originated in Budapest, Hungary and concluded in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on Viking River Cruises.

They did comment on how very different a river cruise is from an ocean cruise. They liked that the ships as were small and held a small number of passengers in comparison to an ocean cruise ship. People were very friendly and consisted of mostly Americans, British, Canadians, and a couple of other nationalities - all English speaking. The staff was friendly and attentive as they provided excellent service. Movement of the ship was hardly felt as the ships glided along the rivers. They had fun as they experienced the lock systems. Giving a "toaster" effect as the ship was raised up and down to match the levels to and from the ship was sailing. Food was excellent. Included tours were good. The guided tours were walking tours and each person had an ear-bud device that enabled everyone to hear the guide without being real close. There cabin was an entry level stateroom where they would have to walk down stairs to their cabin and the window would be above their head at river level. They would consider a cabin with a French balcony or balcony the next time.
They confirmed our knowledge about river cruises:
They would not recommend this cruise for families. There was only one child on board, approximately 8 years old, who was at a loss for what to do at times while on the journey. At least not a cruise with this cruise line.
The majority of the passengers were seniors. He did say that a good number of the tours would not be advisable for mobility impared individuals. Cobblestones roads, hills and steep stairs at a number of venues made it impossible for people such as these to participate.
Unlimited wine and beer where included with lunch and dinner. Client snickered as he said he probably did not drink so much in his life. He couldn't resist the offerings while at the table. The bar waitress was very attentive and kept refilling the glass as it went down and while they were seated at table. There was a new wine or beer offered at each meal. Wine, beer, and cocktails outside of the lunch or dinner sitting are additional. A beverage package is available for purchase for those who feel so inclined.
Entertainment on board consisted of local talent from the vicinity that they were visiting that day. It consisted of bands and other entertainers offering a true ethnic experience.
They did take advantage of our recommendation of arriving a day earlier in order to visit the beautiful city of Budapest. The flights were booked as part of a promotion offered by Viking, but transfers from the airport to the hotel in Budapest and the hotel were booked through us. The hotel we recommended was in close proximity of the cruise pier and was at a price much lower than that being offered direct through Viking. A short cab ride was required to get to the pier.
Overall, they had a wonderful time, and are planning on going on another river cruise. Time and destination undetermined.
