Planning to travel and to leave your homeland - the U.S.A. ?Check your passport as changes in requirements are coming.  Are you ready?

To travel outside of the U.S. and its territories it is required that you hold a valid passport.  The only exception, at this time, are cruises that leave from and return to the same cruise port in the U.S.  A valid passport is recommended in the event something happens that requires you to fly home because of an illness or any other unforeseen circumstance.

Changes are about to be implemented that require people that currently hold passports to check the expiration dates and the number of empty visa pages that are contained within.

It is currently recommended that if your passport expires within 6 months of travel that you apply for a new old immediately.  The new recommendation is to replace it A.S.A.P.

The passport offices are expecting a surge of applications for passports as changes will be implemented in January 2016.  Countries are requiring U.S. citizens to have a certain number of emply visa pages in their passport before arriving.  If there are not an adequate amount of empty pages available, people will be refused entry.

The option to add pages to your existing passport will no longer available.  A new passport will need to be applied for.
