Our favorite beaches on the island of Barbados

Planning a cruise to Barbados? You'll want to know about these two beaches.
The first beach is the closest and offers a fantastic deal. It is about a 45 minute walk in the hot sun from the pier, or a $5 per person taxi fare (one way, based on current rates at the time this post was written). The beach is public, but I would recommend paying the $12 per person admission fee at THE BOATYARD. Your value packed entry fee entitles you to a beach lounge, a sun umbrella, a drink, and a complimentary taxi ride back to the ship. The Boatyard offers a bar, snack bar, fresh water showers, bathroom faciilities, a floating island/trampoline, and a floating iceberg. Beach vendors are available to offer you snorkeling excursions, swimming with the sea turtle opportunities, and more. These vendors are not affiliated with The Boatyard. The waters here tend to be a little calmer than other locations.
The other beach, called ACCRA, on the other side of Bridgetown from the pier, and requires a taxi ride. The rate was $12 per person (one way, based on current rates at the time this post was written). Beach lounges and umbrellas can be rented at $5 a piece. The beach is beside the Accra resort. There are a variety of kiosks selling souvenirs and food/drinks. Bathroom faciilities are limited. This beach does have lifeguards on duty. The waters can be rough when there is a storm at sea.
Barbados is one of my personall favorites in all of the Caribbean because of these two beaches and their spectacular beauty, inviting sand, and crystal clear water.
