Royal Caribbean is finding ways to help passengers who have late flights leaving Southern Florida the same day the cruise ends.  As all cruises arrive at the pier very early in the morning on the day of debarkation.  Usually 6 or 7 am.  Everyone is expected to be off the ship by approximately 10 a.m. or earlier so that preparations can be made for the new passengers that will be soon arriving.

Royal Caribbean is testing an option for travelers that can give them something better to do than  being stranded in the airport for hours before your flight leaves.  Currently being offered for a fee of $35 for those flying out of Ft. Lauderdale, and $40 per person for those flying out of Miami,  is the "Hollywood City Pass" package,  This package includes storage of luggage up to two bags per person, a hospitality center in Hollywood (Hollywood is located between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami), a hop-on hop-off trolley that takes you to downtown Hollywood, and then a shuttle that will take you to the airport.  This current package is only available for passengers of the Oasis of the Seas, and is for those passengers with flight departures after 5 p.m.

It is expected that this package will eventually include other ships and other like packages to develop over time.

Sure beats sitting in a cramped and busy airport.  Did you know that you are not allowed to enter the security gate in Ft. Lauderdale any earlier than 4 hours before flight time?  Renting a car for the day is also another option that you may wish to consider.
