This news is almost old now, but many people are not aware of some magnifcient changes happening in Galveston for the Fall through Spring 2012/2013 cruising season.
You will have more choices, and more destinations or combinations of destination choices to choose from, and from four different cruise lines.
Carnival will continue to sail year round from Galveston. Offering 4-5 day cruises on the Carnival Triumph to Mexico, and a 7-day cruise to the Western Caribbean (diferent itinerary options available) and to the Eastern Caribbean (Key West and the Bahamsas). Carnival will be sailing their newest member to the fleet the Carnival Magic. This new ship offers all the latest in Carnival's bells and whistles to help you and your family enjoy your cruise on one of their "fun ships".
On a seasonal basis, Royal Caribbean will be returning and offering two different itineraries to the Western Caribbean. The Mariner of the Seas will be replacing the Voyager of the Seas this year. The Voyager of the Seas is being sent to New Orleans for 7-night cruises to the Western Caribbean. The Mariner of the Seas is an elegant ship, similar in size to its sister the Voyager of the Seas, but with a different decor. A significant value for the quality of service and the entertainment entities onboard the ship which include a skating rink, rock climbing wall, and mini-golf.
Beginning the Fall of 2012, Princess Cruises will be returning to Galveston, Texas, after many years. They will be offering 7-night itineraries to the Western Caribbean until the Spring of 2013. This premium cruise line product will offer spacious staterooms and will have emphasis on service, pampering and relaxation.
A newbie to these waters will be Disney Cruise Line. This premium cruise line, that offers a special and differentiating cruise experience from the others, will be coming to Galveston, Texas in the Fall of 2012. Offering Western Caribbean cruises for the young and young of heart. Disney gives everyone the opportunity to be a kid again.
