Categories This year we experienced two different cruises on two different lines and were amazed at the number of people who were not only on the 10 or 11-night sailing we were on, but had been or are continuing to stay on board the ship for at least one more leg.

The average question was not how many cruises have you been on and with whom, it was are you going on the next sailing?  Or, were you on the last sailing and are you continuing with the next sailing?

The numbers of passengers who select a cruise line and ship, and then remain on the ship for periods of up to 50 days or more totally amazed me.

Who are these people?

-They are people who are mostly retired.
-They are people who wish to escape the cold of winter, and prefer the Southern Caribbean islands; or are people who want to see as much of the world or region of preference in as much time as possible.
-They are people who appreciate the amenities offered on the ship and by the cruise line of their choice., and the associated perks offered by the cruise lines for their loyalty, and accumulating points to receive additional perks as they work towards higher tiers and more offereings (ie:  laundry, happy hour cocktail hours, internet time, and more).
-They are people who find that staying on a cruise is a fantastic value and lot more convenient than owning or renting a home in Florida.  They don't need to worry about maintenance, cleaning, meals and cooking.  Everything is taken care of for them - including laundry with some lines.  There is even a doctor on board if they are in need of medical attention.

Are these people bored?

They tell me "no".  They selected a ship because of its offerings - including activities and entertainment.  They enjoy new scenery each and every day.  They don't necessarily get off the ship at the islands or ports of call.  They don't mind sitting around or enjoying the ship when most everyone is visiting the islands - the ship is at is quietest.  They enjoy meeting new people, and grow relationships with the crew who begin to feel like family.  They look forward to seeing each other year after year.

All I can say, to my amazement, is just how many people out there have the time and money to be able to afford such vacations are staggering, and the numbers are growing.   One thing I have always known is that a cruise is a great value overall, and these people who sail on back-to-back sailings live it to the max.

If you are a person who has never sailed on a cruise, or are someone who is considering taking back-to-back cruises with a favored cruise line, please give a call.  We are here to add to the value that you are and will be receiving from the cruise lines and to watch your back.  You have more to gain when you book with us than booking direct.
