China, and Asia, in general, are among the hottest spots/destinations that people are wanting to cruise to, from, and around.

The most popular mass-market class cruise lines are gearing up to help people visit the region at more affordable prices than what is currently available through the premium or luxury brands.

Among the first mass-market cruise lines to send their ships to the region was Royal Caribbean announcing that it will remove one of their newest ships, the Quantum of the Seas, to China this year.  The Quantum of the Seas was originally slated to sail year round from New York/Cape Liberty.  Sailings on this ship are selling quickly and availability is very limited.

More recently Norwegian Cruise Line announced that it will be repositioning their ships, eliminating some homeport itineraries to chime in on the more equitable demand for the exotic destinations of China, Asia, and Australia.  One of the homeport itineraries that had been eliminated are the winter season sailings from Houston, Texas.  As of 2017, Norwegian will discontinue sailing from Houston with no word that they would return soon.

Most recently the Carnival Corporation announced that it will send new ships for two of its brands in 2017.  Carnival Cruise Line "Fun" ships, and Princess Cruises.  Like Norwegian, Princess Cruises will be eliminating their winter sailings from Houston, Texas, after this year.
