Travel News - The CDC Recommends 100 Day Suspension of Cruises
Published Friday, April 10th 2020
The CDC recommended that all cruise lines suspend all cruises for a minimum of 100 days. It will be interesting to see how the various cruise lines will respond to this request or recommendation that could prevent them from sailing until mid or late July.
Currently the majority of the cruise lines have suspended sailings through to May 15. It has been speculated that they may start with an additional 30 days for sailings through to June 15, and go forward from there on an as needed basis as the stats and facts come in over the next weeks. We at Cruise Planners are constantly monitoring the situation for travel and assisting clients with their inquiries and needs.
It is encouraging to hear that there appears to be a decrease in the number of new cases and deaths. Hopefully this trend will continue.
Do note that all cruise lines have a policy entitled "Cruise with Confidence" in place for sailings through to December 31, 2020. This enables those who are already booked, or those who might wish to cruise sometime later in the summer or fall the opportunity to book and be assured that they will get a future cruise credit (some with bonuses of 25% or more) or a full cash refund provided you cancel up to 48 hours prior to your cruise reservation's date of departure.
If you are in possession of a Future Cruise Credit, and would like prompt and attentive personalized service, do know that we at Cruise Planners are available to assist you when your agent or agency is unavailable or very slow to respond. It doesn't matter where you booked your original booking with. We can again be of service. Don't worry. We will be here when this is over!
