What to do on the island of Oahu

Waikiki Beach, to the south of Honolulu, is one of the popular and well known beaches in the world. The narrow stretch of beach is normally well populated by beach goers who enjoy the sun, sand and surf. The major arteries of Waikiki are lined by tall building consisting of hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Waikiki is the happening place to be in the evening. Simply walking down the main street is a show of its own. Upscale and designer stores, shoppers, street entertainers, make people watching interesting and fun. Waikiki offers a zoo and an aquarium. Both good places for nature lovers to visit.
Diamond head volcanic mountain stands proudly to the south of Waikiki. Many people like to hike up to its crater to get a beautiful of the coastline.
North Shore is the surfer's haven. This area is world renown for its local for some of the world's largest surfing competitions. We must not forget Turtle Bay. A little bay that harbors many sea turtles.
The Polynesian Cultural Center is a must see venue. A full day event gives you an excellent example of the various islands that make up Polynesia and their cultures. The day can be topped off with a luau and the opportunity to taste some of the dishes that originated on the islands. Followed by the showcase of dancing, fire eating, and more, you will walk away with very pleasant memories that will last a lifetime.
