Things are being stirred up with the selection of cruises, ships and cruise lines that will be sailing to/from Texas during the winter 2015/2016 season. New ships and itineraries to enjoy.
Currently, until November 2015, there are two cruise lines sailing year round from Galveston, Texas. They are Royal Caribbean and Carnival. Each one has some changes in store for the winter season and beyond. In November they will be joined by Disney Cruises for a limited two month engagement. As of November, the Port of Houston comes alive with sailings being offered by Norwegian Cruise Line and Princess Cruises.
Royal Caribbean:
Come November, Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas will be switched out with a new and bigger ship. The biggest ship owned by Royal Caribbean to ever sail out of Texas - the Liberty of the Seas. Each of the ships will be offering alternating 7-night cruise itineraries to the Western Caribbean. One that takes you to the islands of Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel, Mexico. The other to mainland Belize, the islands of Roatan, Honduras, and Cozumel, Mexico. The Liberty of the Seas will be taken out of service for a few weeks during the month of January as it is refurbished and new and exciting amenities will transform this ship into an exciting resort on the seas.
Carnival:
Come November, the changes begin. The Carnival Triumph will be doing a Southern Caribbean sailing that will take you from Galveston to San Juan, Puerto Rico with stops in Aruba, Bonaire, Grenada, Martinique and St. Maarten; and then a return sailing from San Juan back to Galveston and resume its short duration cruise sailings. The Carnival Freedom will be assuming the short duration cruises of that of the Triumph during its absense.
Come March 2016, Carnival will introduce the Carnival Liberty. The Liberty will replace the Carnival Triumph as sail its short duration cruises. The Liberty is a newer ship.
Come May 2016, the Carnival Magic will be replaced by a new ship, the Carnival Breeze. The Breeze is one of Carnival's newest ships afloat and has all the bells and whistles that make the Carnival brand "Fun".
Disney:
Disney will return to Galveston for 7-night sailings to the Western Caribbean and to the Bahamas that includes a stop at their private island oasis of fun - Castaway Cay. The Disney Wonder will entertain everyone of every age with the quality one would expect from a Disney or premium product. The Disney Wonder is among the smallest ships that will be sailing out of Galveston at this time. The staterooms on this ship can accommodate up to 4 passengers, with others that can accommodate more.
Princess Cruises:
In November Princess Cruises will return one last time to the Port of Houston offering premium quality cruising at reasonable and competitive prices. The Caribbean Princess (different ship from that which sailed from Houston last year) will arrive in Houston after it completes its final Canada/New England sailing - a great opportunity for those who would like to visit the region and eliminate one leg of flying.
Princess Cruises is noted to be a itinerary leader by offering and changing up the standard run-of-the-mill itineraries with something exciting and new.
It will continue to offer 7-night sailings to the Western Caribbean, and occassional sailings to the Bahamas, but will include a stop in Mahahual, Mexico, instead of one of the other island/port of call.
Come March 2016 the Caribbean Princess will offer a one time sailing roundtrip Houston to Columbia, Costa Rica and Panama. A great opportunity to visit these outstanding exotic destinations and a glympse of the Panama Canal. This sailing is one that should be considered if you are interested in visiting these countries and want to avoid paying airfare.
The Caribbean Princess and Princess Cruises will say goodbye to Houston with a Transatlantic sailing to Southampton, England.
Norwegian Cruise Line:
In November Norwegian Cruise Line will return to Houston for one last time as it arrives from a Transatlantic Cruise from Venice, Italy on the Norwegian Jade. Norwegian is an award-winning cruise line offering value-packed cruises at low prices. They will offer 7-night itineraries to the Western Caribbean. Some sailings will include stops at their private island beach getaway in Harvest Caye, Belize Belize instead of Belize City.
