Why Cruise the Caribbean?
Published Sunday, September 12th 2010The Caribbean is the number one cruise destination over all cruise destinations in the world. Ever wonder why?
One of the reasons is that cruises to this region are usually well priced and more economical than other cruising destinations. Cruise rates for this region average $75-$150 per person per day for an interior stateroom on a mid-sized cruise ship. Pricing is based on supply and demand. When the children are out of school, or the cruise occurs during a popular holiday (ie: Christmas or New Years), expect to pay higher rates. During the fall and early spring months one can find bargain pricing as low as $50 per person per day. One must be very flexible with dates, durations, and cruise lines to receive a rate as low as $50 per person per day.
The climate in the Caribbean is generally very pleasant and welcoming year round. Offering cooling and refreshing breezes during the heat of the day and balmy warm breezes at night. Hurricane season (April - November) is not even a serious concern when you cruise. These storms are avoided by the cruise lines. They modify their itineraries, as needed, to avoid the storms. In any event, it is highly recommended that travel protection insurance be purchased - just in case.
The islands are not that far apart from one another. This enables you to visit many islands or ports of call in a short period of time. Each island offers its own character and unique culture. This is particularly reflected in their music.
The Caribbean islands are easily accessible by air or by sea. The majority of the Caribbean cruises depart from mainland U.S.A. Namely from the state of Florida. Over the years ports of departure have been increasing to include New York City, Baltimore, Charleston, New Orleans and Galveston. At the current time, cruises leaving from and returning to the same U.S. port do not require passports for American citizens.
The value of the services of a professional travel agent who has traveled and experienced this region is priceless. Not all agents are alike. The lowest price may not always provide you with the best overall satisfaction. As the saying goes, and still holds true, "You get what You pay for".
