People ask why they should go to Europe to visit?  Is it worth their while?  The answer is definitely, Yes!

Granted the long flight over to Europe can be tedious, but you can opt for a leisurely Transatlantic cruise instead.

What is there?

So much, it will keep you busy.

In most cases everyone has at least one family member who came from Europe in times gone by.  Find out where your ancestry came from.  What the country looks like now.  Learn a little more about its culture and cuisine.  Learn more about where you came from.

Check out the historical buildings with their artistic architecture.  Much of which is being duplicated here.  Check out the churches and their history.  Stain-glassed windows, marble or hand-carved wood altars, hand-painted ceilings, gold or bronze embellished fixtures.  Maybe it is a historical site associated with one of the world wars.  It can be just marveling at the current architecture with its ultra modern glass and brass as it neighbors the neighborhoods of yesteryear.

People complain...It's too expensive.  I don't believe it is worth its value in the price.  That is easy to say when you haven't been there and really don't know what to expect.

How can you get the most value of seeing the destination at a reasonable cost and not break the pocketbook?

There was a time where traveling independently and not using a travel provider help you save some money by doing everything yourself.  Now, that is not the case.  Accommodations in Europe are not like that in the U.S. or Canada.  They are also very costly.  Especially those located in the city center or a popular attraction.  Buses, subway trains, bicycles and passenger trains are the main means of transportation within Europe.  Driving in some cities in Europe can be very hazardous as it is very crowded and hurried.  Parking can be a nightmare.  Food in Europe, in most cases is sold by the European Euro.  The Euro comes to us with a hefty exchange rate.

One of my main recommendations is taking a river cruise.  A river cruise gives you the ultimate experience of your destination.  A tremendous value for all that is included in the price.  You board a small ship that will be your home away from home.  Comfortable staterooms - most of which have windows so that you don't miss the constantly changing scenery.  You only unpack and pack once.  You will be fully immersed in your destination as the ship be your means of transportation from city to city as it cruises down the river.  Escorted shore/city excursions are included in your cruise package.  Meals are freshly made from local produce and products.  Most river cruise lines include local wine or beer with dinner. The constantly changing scenery is your entertainment as you pass by churches, castles, forests, farms, etc.  The cruise lines may provide local entertainment from the region so that you can enjoy some of the artistry and culture in the evening as you relax and sit back after a full day.  Not being cramped in a hurried bus for hours.

River cruises are now on sale.  Many cruise lines are currently offering 2 for 1 rates, free airfare and more.

Want to visit a lot of countries or destinations in a short period of time? Consider an ocean cruise with one of the popular cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, Princess, or Holland America.  In a short period of time you can visit many ports of call and countries.  Places that would otherwise be timely or expensive to get to by other means.  Again your home away from home.  Accommodations, food (generally American), and entertainment (Broadway/Vegas like) are included.  You would be responsible for your own shore excursions (provided by the cruise line or other tour companies), gratuities, and beer and wine is not included.

There are many cruise lines offering spectacular rates for Europe right now.  Consider one today as rates will go up as time goes on.

There is also the land tour package.  This is where you travel from city to city, attraction to attraction, or country to country by coach bus or on some occasions trains.  In most cases you will be staying in a different hotel every night. Therefore requiring you to unpack and pack accordingly and carry your luggage to and from the bus.  Most hotels are centrally located or near a popular attraction.  Tours are included in the price.  Some meals may be included in the package - this varies a lot from tour to tour.   Gratuities are not included.  Prices vary according to duration, location, quality of hotel accommodation and the modes of transportation being utilized,

The choices are many and the options vast.  It can be very confusing as price should not be the sole decision maker.  You get what you pay for.  Europe is a place that is not likely to be visited on a frequent basis.  It is someplace that you want to get the most out of for every dollar you spend.

It is also recommended that if you can go this year to do so.  Rates are expected to increase with time.  With flexibility, bargains can be found.  Europe is not an inexpensive destination when coupled with airfare.  It is not a destination that you can just jump in your car from.  It is a destination that will awe and amaze you with priceless and precious lifelong memories that you can share with your family and friends.
